IFILM Enters Movie-on-Demand Space

(INTERNET WIRE) -- 06/13/2001 -- IFILM, a former free online exhibitor of indie short films, entered the movie-on-demand category today, unveiling a comprehensive directory and guide to 80,000 movies, more than 2000 of which are now available to watch online, announced IFILM CEO Kevin Wendle. Nearly a year in the making, the new site expands upon IFILM’s leadership base in the short film category and includes an entirely new design and interface, with a new advanced search engine to help people find and watch shorts and movies.

"When we started IFILM two years ago, there were less than 50 full length movies available to actually watch online. Today, there are more than 2000,” said Wendle. “With more mainstream movies coming online every day, we are well-positioned to leverage our expertise managing content, data and partner relationships in the short film category to embrace the much larger movie category,” Wendle continued. “Consumers finally have a single editorial broadband guide to find and watch both short and feature-length films."

New IFILM Site Divided into Targeted Channels

To provide the most simple and intuitive experience for consumers, IFILM's new site is divided into a wide variety of channels including major categories such as sci-fi, animation, and comedy, and hundreds of smaller categories such as monsters, underwater, ballet and superheroes. Each channel offers shorts and movies to watch, movie information, news, reviews, trailers, and a comparison shopping guide for buying DVD’s or videos. All channels are programmed by IFILM category experts. Throughout IFILM, users are encouraged to interact with our expert guides and each other to find movies that might interest them.

Debuts Comprehensive Movie Search and Database

In addition, the new IFILM site debuts a comprehensive movie search engine enabling members to not only find details and credits for nearly every movie ever released, but also to see how other IFILM members rate and review movies and add their own reviews.
