NEW FILM FESTIVAL SEEKS TO PROMOTE HIGHER VALUES THROUGH THE ARTS
The Festival's mission is to recognize and showcase moving images of high artistic merit that uplift the heart, inspire hope and exalt the human soul. "The Vision Film Festival is a place for filmmakers and audiences to celebrate films with a conscience," says festival director Marc Marriott. "Film is such a powerful medium - and we want to promote and encourage those films that use this power to uplift and inspire." Opening night festivities for the three-day festival will take place at Los Angeles' Museum of Tolerance with UCLA's James Bridges Theater hosting the closing night awards presentation. The Festival will also comprise a series of workshops on Saturday, August 25. All festival events will be available to the public. The Vision Film Festival was conceived and sponsored by the Vision of the Arts Council (ViA), an independent association of entertainment industry professionals. Prominent advisory board members who are lending their support include screenwriter David Howard (Galaxy Quest), veteran television producer Glen Larson (Magnum P.I., Knight Rider, Battlestar Galactica), producer Aldric Porter (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Apollo 13, As Good As It Gets.) and Academy Award-winner Gerald Molen (Schindler's List, Rain Man). Festival submissions are currently being accepted through June 20, 2001 in both feature and short film categories. Entry forms are available on the Vision Fest website.
