Well, the time has finally arrived for the film's Aussie fans...
The Australian premiere of the fabbo Scooby-Doo movie is to take place next Monday at the Gold Coast's Warner Roadshow Studios - the location of much of the movie's production.
Unfortunately, Fred and Daphne (aka Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr.) will be absent from the ceremony. Expected to attend and to debut the new Scooby ride at Warner Bros Movie World until as late as yesterday, the lovebird couple have cancelled their trip "due to conflicting schedules".
Whether the sudden change of heart has any connection to Sarah's criticisms of Australia as voiced on Jay Leno has yet to be known, but fans are likely to be disappointed.
US PREMIERE! Doo Happens at cinemas today! (for a select few) The rest of us mere mortals will have to wait until June 14th for the national launch.
This just in:
It's official: Sarah Michelle Gellar and actor Freddie Prinze, Jr., are engaged. Access Hollywood reports that the star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and heartthrob Prinze announced their engagement at a party to celebrate her 24th birthday. The couple first met in 1997 during filming of the teen movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. Prinze was previously involved with actress Kimberly McCullough of General Hospital. No wedding date has been announced.

Okay, the day's filming has concluded, so I can let you know now that the Scooby first unit were today shooting a flashback scene from Fred's past in the Bond University sport's hall (my old hangout). While SMG was not present, director Raja Gosnell, Freddie Prinze Jr and a team of extras dressed in comic-book attire were all on set.
Unfortunately, due to the non-disclosure agreement that all extras are required to sign, that's as much as I can say at this stage. :(
Well, even though Scooby has been filming in and around the Gold Coast for about a month now, I have yet to visit the set. Fortunately, though, a friend of mine has been booked for an 8+ hour shift as a Scooby extra! tomorrow. Though studio ethics prohibit me from telling you all where the Scooby team will be filming tomorrow, I'll be back with a complete report about how the day went (hopefully along with some piccies) tomorrow. This is very exciting...I just wish I was the one spending 8+ hours in the vicinity of Sarah Michelle and team. ;)

Better known for his teen heart-throb status, than for his acting credentials, Freddie nevertheless comes from a family of entertainers; obviously being the some of actor Freddie Prinze). Freddie started his acting career with guest stars on TV, before earning a significant role in the touching To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday (1996). Later, he starred alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar on I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), which is presumably where the couple's relationship began. Since then, he's made appearances in many teen-oriented movies.
Apart from the relationship in name (and the newly-dyed blonde locks), Freddie has much in common with Scooby's clean-cut Fred, and it will be interesting to see how his portrayal develops.
Ms Gellar needs no introduction. The assertive scream queen of our generation, Sarah Michelle Gellar is best known for her title role in the superb Buffy: The Vampire Slayer TV series. Prior to this breakthrough role, Sarah was a regular on the long-running daytime soap All My Children.
Directly as a result of her charismic performance as the banisher of all things evil, Sarah branched out into features with appearances in the blockbuster horror films I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and Scream 2 (1997), before progressing into the twisted psychological drama Cruel Intentions, where her cunning interpretation of 'rich-bitch' Kathryn Merteuil managed to both repel and seduce.
In Scooby-Doo, Sarah is sure to impress as the delightfully ditsy Daphne Blake.
In a role for which Mike Myers was considered, Scream's gangly Matthew Lillard is certainly a better physical match for Shaggy. It has yet to be seen whether or not he can fill the casually comical shoes of the greatest slacker of all time.
A rising star in every sense of the word, 25-year-old Linda Cardellini jumped into the feature film scene with roles in several high profile b-movies during the late 90s. This includes roles in Good Burger (1997), Dead Man On Campus (1998), and Dee Snider's Strangeland (1998).
Soon after came her performing the central role of Lindsay Weir in the brilliant cult TV series Freaks and Geeks.
She is sure to add both substance and charm to her portrayal of Velma Dinkley in Scooby-Doo.
A true star of comedy - both on screen and off - Rowan Atkinson rose to fame in his marvelous creative collaboration with Ben Elton on The Black Adder. Rowan's next creation, Mr Bean, turned the funny Brit into a worldwide phenomenon. Since then, Mr Atkinson has had no trouble finding work; appearing in everything from Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) to The Lion King (1994).
Rowan will undoubtedly add to the comic relief and satire of the Scooby movie.
A Gold Coast local, Remi Broadway has experience in children's television, with his first major local role being a recurring appearance on the Prime Possom show.
Another locally-based performer, Isla Fisher started her television career in the short-lived prime time soapie Paradise Beach, before graduating to the cast of the established Home and Away where she starred as Shannon Reed for 3 years.
Not much is known about Charles, except that he made a guest appearance in the TV series The Lost World which, like Scooby-Doo was filmed in an around the Gold Coast.
A seasoned veteran of stage and screen, Andrew Prine appeared in several Hollywood westerns during the 50s, before moving into the b-horror scene throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s. As a result of this, b-movie fans will relish his role in Scooby as much as they would an appearance by Vincent Price.
